Christopher Grubb: The Evolution of Experiences Elevates Design
Christopher Grubb lights up a room (and a conversation) with the same savoir-faire ease that informs his designs.
Preceded by a power house list of industry accolades, he requires little introduction. That said, Christopher is the Founder and President of renowned Beverly Hills based Arch-Interiors Design Group. He has been named a Top Fifty Innovator by Kitchen & Bath Design News, and is the creator of two product design studios, The CG Collection, and Autograph by Christopher Grubb
And though this influencer, go-to presenter and television personality can itemize the “ins and outs” of design direction on demand, he’s someone who pays higher homage to an often eclipsed, yet intrinsic element of design. But first . . .
Design Centered Retail - Angst or Ally?
With the proliferation of design resources and products available both online and in growing brick and mortar settings, the world has become the design clients' oyster. Christopher notes however, that our exposure to design across the board, be it clothing, cars or furniture, facilitates the desire to participate in the creative process. A negative? Quite the contrary. Awareness fosters appreciation, and in turn, an educated client: a win-win. He says a segment of the market unexpectedly demonstrating new and keen forte for process, origins, and the inner-workings of products, is millennials. And with a fresh consciousness and insistence for what’s well-made.
Small on Space? Go Big on Function
By 2050, it’s projected that 70% of the population will occupy city environments. Hence, the movement toward spaces that are small yet savvy. Christopher has long been a proponent of small space living, and he points to innovative solutions in multi-functional furnishings, including those which incorporate smart technology.
2018: Coalesced Kitchens, the Furnished Bathroom
For those who traverse the miles of sensory wonderland that is the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) it’s nothing short of awe-inspiring to realize Christopher Grubb’s cachet. He's one of the few who define the year’s direction in space and product design. What do kitchens and baths look like in 2018? According to Christopher:
Appliances are integrated with cabinetry to bring a look that is quieter, coalesced.
Technology takes surfaces to new heights with even more realistic, durable (and affordable) wood grains and stone-look textures
Natural stone never goes away
Neutrals stay strong; a timeless ground that can change up with pillows, towels or a feature color
Vanities furnish the bathroom. Christopher’s designs keep lines clean and simple, primarily transitional or contemporary, and are often hung to create more floor space, making a room appear larger. Same for buffets; and shelves, rather than bookcases.

The revival of all white seems to dovetail with one of Christopher’s most requested luxury items, natural light: opening a space as much as possible to accommodate the spirit-lifting qualities of sunshine.
Christopher expresses that of all the products, furnishings, materials or movements making headlines, the greatest (and most often overlooked) 'of course' comes from the evolution of experiences: the all encompassing element that is foremost in his designs. Increasingly, clients ask to “bring home” the sights, senses and features of vacation environments. Custom is the new curated and as someone zealous for creme de la creme artistry and craftsmanship, he’s happily mindful of the minutiae; the details that make for a comfortable and luxurious experience like the abundance of natural light, natural stone, amenities, and vanities that are dimensionally generous. As Christopher says, "Who can put a price tag on experiences?"
